STEEL SUGAR LOAF HELMET The sugar loaf helmet is a classic great helm that provides complete protection to the head, usually by encasing a warriors head in a layer of steel. This helmet echoes that design, possessing a raised peak, which gives it a shape similar to a sugar loaf (from whence the helm draws its name). This rounded, peaked top is not just decorative, though, as the shape helps protect against direct blows to the head, helping to shift force and impact down the sides of the helmet, instead of letting it fall directly on the top. The helmet features two thin, rectangular eyelets which allow the wearer to see out, while also featuring several small holes along the front, which help to ventilate the helmet, aiding in airflow which not only helps keep the wearer cool, but also makes it easier for them to breathe. Our Sugar Loaf helmet has been redesigned for larp use, a more streamlined arc, still with the narrow eye slits and the breathing holes. The front is decorated with a cross shaped steel patch. This Sugar Loaf helm is made of 1 mm steel, with steel rivets with a curve back to follow the neck.
