Description
The round shield has been a staple of warfare throughout human history. From the first shields discovered until the Renaissance, the maneuverability and usefulness of the round shield as a battlefield weapon made it this weapon. This beautifully crafted and hand painted Viking shield is an absolute masterpiece. The aged wood planks have been meticulously handing carved and feature a wealth of wonderful detail and subtle combat markings that befit a great Viking warrior. The shield also features a heavy 16-gauge steel boss and a steel rim all around the outer edge. A single wooden handle has been attached to the back of the guard for transport and maneuverability. This particular shield has been painted and finished in an ice blue color. We have other colors available in different listings. Because this type of shield is handcrafted and uses multiple carving techniques, please be aware that the wood patterns and details shown in the images may vary slightly from the plaque you will receive. The front side of the shield has also been applied with a topcoat to protect it for centuries. So whether it’s for the wall or the battlefield, this shield is well balanced and ready to go.
